March 2018 / Coexistence

I submitted a piece to COEXISTENCE, an international outdoor exhibition that ran in tandem with the New Zealand International Arts Festival in Wellington. As runner up my piece was one of two selected to join the travelling show hosted by Museum on the Seam; a socio-political contemporary art museum based in Israel. COEXISTENCE incorporates leading artists from around the world and has been displayed in over 30 cities.

This piece explores themes relating to diversity and acceptance. The abstract linear styling draws together different ethnicities into one complete composition supporting notions of unity and proposing that we are more alike than different. This work has become all the more pertinent following the recent events in Christchurch. No where is safe from hate. Embracing difference and diversity in our communities is more vital than ever.
